My 10-year-old daughter insisted on checking our mailbox all by herself – today I checked it myself and what I…

When my ten-year-old daughter became strangely obsessed with checking the mailbox, I thought it was just a phase. But what I discovered hidden inside those letters brought me to tears and revealed a secret that changed our lives forever. And I couldn’t have been happier.

Hello, my name is Erin, I’m 40 years old, and I’m a single mom who adores her daughter, Lily. We’ve been a very close duo since her father passed away three years ago. Lily is my world: bright, curious, and full of life. Our evenings are usually filled with laughter, homework, and stories.
I work from home as a freelance graphic designer, which allows me to spend a lot of time with her. It’s not always easy, but we’ve built a beautiful life together.

One evening, after dinner, Lily looked at me with her big, curious eyes. “Mom, can I go check the mailbox?” she asked suddenly. This was unusual, as she had never shown any interest in our mail before. Normally, she was more excited about dessert or the latest episode of her favorite show.

“Of course, darling. Here’s the key,” I said, handing it to her. Lily grabbed the key and ran out, beaming. I watched her go, thinking it was just a whim.

The next day, she asked again. “Mom, can I check the mail?” she said, almost jumping up and down.

“Go ahead, Lily,” I replied, handing her the key again. She ran to the mailbox as if it were the most exciting moment of her day. This continued every evening. After four days, it had become a habit.

“Mom, is it okay if I check the mail one more time?” she asked, already reaching for the key.

“Of course,” I said, trying to hide my curiosity. “You seem to really enjoy that, huh?”
