My Divorced Neighbor Told Me, “I’m Going to Steal Your Husband, So You’d Better Prepare for Divorce” — I Decided…
That evening, Vanessa appeared at our door with a bottle of wine.
“Tell everyone you lied,” she said. “Apologize publicly, and I’ll stop.”
“No,” I said.
“You have until tomorrow.”
She left.
Irvin and I argued that night.
She was threateningsomething
real, and we didn’t know how far she would go.
Then Vanessa began sharing screenshots of messages between herself and Irvin, making them look flirtatious.
I was furious.
“You knew she was flirting. Why did you keep helping her?”
Irvin looked down.
“Because I had no interest in her. I thought that made it obvious.”
“It was obvious to you. That wasn’t enough.”
A few days later, a customer canceled a major wedding cake after hearing about the bakery.
That was when I knew this had gone too far.
I wanted to publish every message and expose Vanessa.
Irvin refused.
“We fix the garage, stabilize the bakery, and stop giving her more of our life.”
Then Vanessa sent another message.
Last chance. Apologize publicly at the HOA meeting.
Irvin compared her screenshots with the original conversations.
Then he found something important.
Vanessa had cropped his replies.
She had shown:
Wish I had a man like you.”
But his full response said:
“You’ll find one. I already have the woman I want.”
Another message said:
“You’re the only man I can rely on.”
His complete reply was:
“You need to stop saying things like that. Claire is my wife.”
She hadn’t just misunderstood him.
She had deliberately edited the conversations.
But she was still right about the garage.
So I stopped giving her leverage.
I refunded customers I couldn’t serve, rented a licensed commercial kitchen, and started the approval process for the garage.
At the HOA meeting, Vanessa spoke first.
She portrayed herself as a lonely woman who had been publicly humiliated by a jealous wife. She mentioned my bakery and the messages.
